Bitcoin 2024 Was a Blast & Trump’s Pro-Crypto Speech Pushed Bitcoin Higher

It was great seeing so many of my friends and colleagues from the Bitcoin industry, but that wasn’t the only highlight of this year’s Bitcoin 2024. 

I attended our 1st Annual Samara Bitcoin Golf Championship, judged on Pitch Day, and heard Presidential candidate Donald Trump deliver a rousing speech in which he said he’ll turn the U.S. into a crypto powerhouse if elected.

Trump spoke at the Bitcoin 2024 in Nashville, pushing the price of Bitcoin back up to $69,000 📈

Despite the recent attempt on his life, former (and probably soon-to-be) U.S. President Donald Trump attended Bitcoin 2024 and gave an awesome keynote speech. 

It’s clear that Trump has changed his tone regarding Bitcoin and, if elected, plans to turn the U.S. into a global crypto hub. 

He pledged to spearhead a national Bitcoin stockpile, appoint a crypto advisory council to design transparent regulations that will guide the industry, and harness the most affordable electricity to transform America into a global leader in Bitcoin mining and AI.

 Trump also said that he would fire SEC Chairman Gary Gensler on his first day back in office. 

He received thunderous applause for that statement, which is no surprise given the SEC’s de facto anti-crypto stance under Gary’s reign. 

The main takeaway from Trump’s speech is that a Trump Administration would be bullish for Bitcoin and the entire crypto industry. 

The price of Bitcoin rallied following his speech, climbing back up to surpass $69,000 before correcting into the mid-$60,000s. 

I was a judge at Pitch Day’s Bitcoin Alpha Track at Bitcoin 2024 💰

In addition to networking with some of the brightest minds in the world (over more than just a few drinks :) at and around the conference, I also had the pleasure of being a judge at Bitcoin 2024’s Pitch Day for the Bitcoin Alpha competition. 

Samara Asset Group’s U.S. subsidiary, Samara Alpha Management, partnered with Bitcoin Magazine Pro again this year to hold the Bitcoin Alpha Competition to find new fund managers focused on generating alpha in the Bitcoin market. 

This year’s finalists were Evan Morris, Antoine Freches, and Dr. Michaael J. Kelly. 

It was very interesting to learn about the different strategies managers are executing to generate higher returns than if they were just HODLing Bitcoin. 

The winner of the competition, Evan from Boreal, was awarded $1 million in seed capital from Samara Alpha as well as access to all the operational infrastructure needed to run a successful startup fund.

The 1st Samara Bitcoin Golf Championship was a blast! 🏌️

Just before the Bitcoin conference officially kicked off, I attended the 1st Annual Samara Bitcoin Golf Championship, sponsored by Samara Alpha. 

The tournament was held at the Hermitage Golf Course in Nashville, and it was just awesome. Hanging out with Bitcoiners is already fun as it is, but combining that with golf and drinks made it an incredible day!  

The 1 BTC that was up for grabs for whoever got a hole-in-one at the Samara Hole (Hole 13) remained unclaimed as no one managed to make that happen. Nonetheless, the feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, as everyone ended up having a great time.
